Tertia Van Rensburg – Guys what does body positivity mean to you?

Tertia – What does ‘body positivity’ mean to you? On a scale of 1 – 10, with 10 being completely positive, how would you rate yourself?

Body positivity is accepting and owning your own body. Being thankful that you have one. Appreciating the smaller quirks of your body. Loving the imperfections. It’s about not hating your whole body and self because of small things you think are wrong, based on common misconceptions.

At first glance, I would rate me at 3 right now. I am not happy, as I know how I have been before and what I should be like for the lifestyle I want to lead.

Without researching, I would say that “one who is comfortable in their own skin”. Being body positive is working hard towards being a better and stronger you, all the while you are proud of where your body is at. You look in the mirror and see beauty but know that your body can still make progress to become better. As one who has become passionate about working out. I have become my definition of body positive. I see the improvements from every workout.

That is body positivity. Learning to look in the mirror, see the beauty in your reflection, see the improvements you have made, and know that you are on your way to a better and stronger you. Be proud of who you are, where you are going, and the strength you contain!

I’m happy with my body, I don’t starve my body when I’m picking up weight. Yes, I do maintain a physical lifestyle but not to remain fit and in shape. I love sport, l do everything from surfing and kitesurfing to hiking.

Body positivity to me is just being happy with who you are in your body, regardless of the shape and form. I think it’s a lot of bullshit because people are shamed into believing that they are too fat/too thin, their boobs are too small / too big. Your body is a vehicle to drive your essence around, the shape of it is utterly immaterial. So, on a scale of 1 – 10, I’d say “irrelevant”.

Uriah – Mentor and Author

Body positivity is your health and how you take care of yourself. With your Mind, Body and Soul. I see myself as a ten because I’m always striving to take care of myself and getting to know more about myself.

Regan – Founder & Director of a dance company
Well, I am quite out of shape since the festive season began. As a dancer, it can mean a few things: 1. Body awareness 2. Body control 3. Body balance.

Andre – Director

I am 100% positive about my body, flaws and all!

Anton – Social Media Consultant and Travel Photographer

body confidence is someone having the confidence to pull off a shot as a model.

I am very comfortable with my body and the reason that it is not 10, is that there is always room for improvement.

I would assume it means either being happy with the way your body presents you to the world, or that one feels they can do something about getting it that way.

My take is to evaluate your body as if it were perfect and then gauge how u believe it is now. I could do with losing a little weight on my tummy otherwise, I’m perfect.

I’m normal. Take care of your temple, and it takes care of you. My journey is not yet complete, my struggles are real, I’ll know when to hit ten. Be positive on the inside and it shall reflect out wide, that’s what I think it means.
